PHOTOGRAPHY

  • The subject isn’t as important as the composition, texture, lighting, and contrast the photographs portray. In my investigations, I use the scene in front of me as a series of shapes, and textures in opposition to one another while bringing unity to the whole through composition. Lomographic cameras, with the challenge of retaining focus, their tendency to leak light, create indiscriminate vignetting, and generate noise on the image is a favorite format to shoot with. I try to limit the post-production manipulation of the images to allow for capture to retain its raw appeal.

In many images there's a notable absence of staged or overly posed shots, favoring a more candid, documentary-style approach. My framing of subjects often creates a sense of intimacy or isolation, depending on the narrative of the image. I try to create a distinct aesthetic characterized by a cinematic quality and a penchant for capturing fleeting moments.

I tend to gravitate towards towards a muted, desaturated palette, evoking a sense of nostalgia or melancholy. This tonal choice contributes to the overall mood of the images, enhancing their emotive quality.
